No worries — here's how to get a rough measurement before requesting a quote. If you're still unsure, just give us your best estimate and we'll confirm on site.
Measure the length and width of your lawn in metres, then multiply them together.
Example: 8m long × 5m wide = 40m²
Break your lawn into smaller rectangles, measure each one separately and add them together.
Example: 20m² + 15m² + 10m² = 45m²
Measure the radius (centre to edge) in metres, then use: radius × radius × 3.14
Example: 3m radius = 3 × 3 × 3.14 = 28m²
Open Google Maps, find your property and right click on your lawn area. Select Measure distance to trace and calculate the area easily.
💡 Not sure? Don't stress — just put in your best estimate when filling out the quote form. We'll confirm the exact measurement when we come out for a site visit.

Tall Turf was born from a simple idea — two mates who love what they do, decided to back themselves and build something of their own. We've spent years in the industry learning the trade properly, and we're bringing that experience to every job we take on.
We take pride in every job we do. When we're done, your lawn should look so good your neighbours are jealous.

Most turf varieties take 2–6 weeks to fully establish depending on the season and how well the lawn is watered. In summer you'll see faster growth, in winter it takes longer. The key is consistent watering in the first 2–3 weeks — this is when roots are anchoring into the soil.
Yes — old grass, weeds and debris need to be removed before new turf is laid. We handle all of this as part of our site preparation. If you already have your old lawn removed and the ground is relatively level, let us know in your quote request as this can affect pricing.
Spring and early autumn are ideal for turf installation in Melbourne. Warm soil temperatures help roots establish quickly. Summer can work well too with consistent watering. Winter installations are possible but establishment is slower and some varieties struggle in the cold. We're taking bookings from September 2026 — perfect timing for a spring install.
Pricing depends on your lawn size, turf variety, site access and how much preparation is required. Use our quote calculator above to get a rough estimate, or submit a quote request and we'll get back to you within 24 hours with a clear, all-inclusive price.
For the first 2 weeks, water twice daily — morning and evening. After that, reduce to once a day for another 2 weeks, then move to a normal watering schedule. The soil underneath should stay moist but not waterlogged. We'll give you a full watering guide tailored to your variety on installation day.
Wait until the turf has firmly rooted — usually 2–4 weeks after installation. You can test this by gently trying to lift a corner. If it resists, it's ready to mow. Set your mower to a high cut for the first few mows and never remove more than one third of the leaf at once.

It depends on your situation. Sir Walter Buffalo is best for shaded areas or family lawns wanting a soft, low maintenance grass. TifTuf Hybrid Bermuda suits lawns in full sun that need to handle heavy foot traffic and dry summers. Eureka Kikuyu Premium is ideal for high traffic areas that need to recover quickly. Not sure? Just ask us in your quote request and we'll recommend the right variety for your yard.
Follow these simple steps after installation and your lawn will establish quickly and look great for years to come.
Weeks 1–2: Water twice daily, morning and evening. Keep the soil moist 10cm deep.
Weeks 3–4: Reduce to once daily.
After 4 weeks: Water 2–3 times per week or as needed. Early morning is best to reduce evaporation.
Wait 2–4 weeks until the turf is firmly rooted before mowing. Test by gently lifting a corner — if it resists, it's ready.
Set your mower high for the first few cuts and never remove more than one third of the leaf at once.
Apply a starter fertiliser 4–6 weeks after installation once the lawn has established. This encourages deep root growth and a lush green colour.
Fertilise again every 8–12 weeks through the growing season. Avoid fertilising in winter.
— No heavy foot traffic for the first 3–4 weeks
— Don't let the lawn dry out in the first month
— Avoid mowing in the first 2 weeks
— Don't apply weed killer until fully established
Sir Walter Buffalo
Tolerates shade well. Keep thatch under control with an annual dethatch. Avoid overwatering — Sir Walter prefers to dry out slightly between waterings once established.
TifTuf Hybrid Bermuda
Highly drought tolerant once established. Needs full sun to thrive. Doesn't go dormant in winter — growth slows but it stays green year-round. Self-repairing, so it recovers quickly from wear and damage.
Eureka Kikuyu Premium
Fast growing — may need more frequent mowing through summer. Thrives in full sun. Very hard wearing and recovers quickly from heavy use.
